The PILOTS Database
An Electronic Index to the Traumatic Stress Literature
The PILOTS database is an electronic index to the worldwide literature on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other
mental-health consequences of exposure to traumatic events. It is produced by the National Center for PTSD, and is available
to the public on computer systems maintained by Dartmouth College. There is no charge for using the database, and no account
or password is required. As of August 2006 there were 30,290 references (almost all including abstracts) in the database.
Further information, including brief access and search instructions, appears
below. For additional information, please contact the NCPTSD at the address
below, or send email to ncptsd@ncptsd.org
We encourage you to send copies of your publications to us so that we might
index them in the PILOTS database. While we are unable to include unpublished
conference presentations or to index published articles from manuscript copy,
we are eager to obtain publications from obscure as well as well-known
journals, books, book chapters, pamphlets, technical reports, and materials in
all languages.

PILOTS Database User's Guide
A comprehensive PILOTS Database
User's Guide (3rd edition) was
published in January 2001. It is available on this website, in PDF form. (In
order to read or print PDF files, you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader. (If
your Web browser is not equipped with the Reader, you may obtain the
appropriate version for your computer free of charge from the Adobe Web site.)
This edition should be used with caution, as the search procedures it
describes pertain to a now-obsolete version of the database. A new edition is
in preparation. Until it is published, we recommend that you rely upon the
extensive tutorials and help screens provided by the CSA Illumina system on which
the PILOTS database now resides.
Click on
"Search PILOTS" to be taken directly to the PILOTS database on the NISC
BiblioLine system.
