PILOTS Database Term Lists
In addition to the descriptors contained in the PILOTS thesaurus, we apply standardized terms for specific incidents, organizations, and persons that may be subjects of publications indexed in the database.
These terms are used in addition to the official descriptors; thus a journal on the Armenian Earthquake of 1988 will be indexed under 'Earthquakes" (from the PILOTS Thesaurus) in addition to "Armenian Earthquake (1988)" from the Incidents Term List.
Unlike descriptors, these additional terms are not arranged hierarchically, and cross-references are not provided from alternate terms.
We also maintain a PILOTS Database Instruments Authority List (PDF), which provides standardized names for psychometric and other instruments used in work reported in publications indexed in the PILOTS database. This list includes cross-references from alternate names of instruments, and also provides limited descriptive and bibliographic data on many instruments.
